Tallahassee Highland Games

  • Tallahassee, Florida 7550 Apalachee Parkway Tallahassee, FL, 32311 United States (map)

For years the St. Andrew Society of Tallahassee and other founders worked to bring the Scottish Highland Games to Tally. The “Tallahassee Highland Games and Scottish Festival” Facebook group is maintained by members involved in the original Tallahassee Games and Scottish Festival. And, though the original Tally Games eventually closed out, this group has maintained and preserved its memory and spirit!

Our group is the new Tallahassee Highland Games; we are a 501(c)3 Nonprofit festival conducted by the 'May and Fain Cultural and Sports’ organization.

Though we come from an athletics background, our desire and intention with this festival is both to do justice to the original games and continue the preservation of #scottishheritage in #tallahassee.

This year we have chosen The ClanBuchanan as our Honored Clan in recognition of their newly named chieftain. We're ever so excited that local Regional Convener John Gibson has accepted on behalf Clan Buchanan.

2023 is shaping up to be a big affair for the Scottish Games here. Visit Tallahassee has humbled us with incredible support for the Games and allowing us to use Apalachee Regional Park as our venue. With ninety acres of open space we've planned both the Highland Games and Stones of Strength - a traditional styled stone lifting event not typically seen at most festivals.

At the festival you'll enjoy

  • two performance stages with Scottish/Celtic music and dance,

  • Celtic vendors, breweries, and a #Whisky Tasting Experience.

  • The folks at North Florida Facial Hair Society are even conducting a beard competition. We all know how Scots love our facial hair!

An international Highland Games Federation Series Event.

  • Caber toss Championship

  • Stones of Strength

  • Traditional Highland Games

We are announcing new activities and participants every week, so stay tuned and as we post in this group! We welcome everyone to ask questions, comment or collaborate. The Games are growing so well largely due to locals who have been wanting to see the Games revived in Tallahassee, and we love conversing and working with everyone with a passion for strength and heritage!
