Loch Lomond Highland Games

Hosted at the southern end of Loch Lomond in Balloch village just off the main A82 north, the Loch Lomond Highland Games is one of Scotland’s traditional highland games that attracts tourists from across the globe. The event was launched by a group of local businessmen in 1967; today, Loch Lomond Highland Games attracts over 9,000 people each year.

Events throughout the day include hammer throwing, caber toss, shot putt, solo piping tug of war, wrestling, cycling, running and highland dancing.  The day concludes with a pipe band parade through the village. Overall prize money is in excess of £12,000. There is a wide range of stalls offering traditional Scottish arts, crafts, jewellery and food and also a fun fare and bar.

Parking is available at the Lomond Shores overspill car park ½ a mile from the event arena. There are also excellent train links with Balloch railway station 100 yards from the site.
